Commercial
Services Group
The group manages all the commercial dealings within AgResearch.
It aims to facilitate the growth of revenue streams from commercial
clients via the provision of services to third parties or from the
transfer of intellectual property to external agencies. Its main
driver is to forge key partnerships with industry partners to
maximise the synergies that exist between AgResearch as a science
provider and companies active in the market place.
This involves working closely with AgResearch science groups to:
-
Develop new
commercial contract research arrangements with third parties.
-
Broker the
equitable transfer of AgResearch intellectual property to third
parties best able to commercialise it for the benefit of New
Zealand’s pastoral sector via licensing or sale.
-
Identify, protect
and manage the commercially important intellectual property
developed within the three AgResearch science groups.
-
Manage the
development of new technology platforms identified as likely to
generate new spin off opportunities for AgResearch.
The Commercial
Services Group has three dedicated commercial teams, each aligned to
a specific science group. Each team provides a mix of business
development and intellectual management skills appropriate to the
science group it is aligned to.
