Learning Experiences Outside The Classroom
New school education service popular
AgResearch’s new Education Officer, Colin
Nicol, is taking our science and research to New Zealand classrooms
– and schools have been quick to take up the offer.
He will visit New Zealand schools year-round,
using his extensive teaching and science background to enlighten
students about DNA extraction, gene splicing, cloning, transgenesis
and running gel electrophoresis practicals. There has also been a
lot of interest in presentations about the biocontrol of possums.
Colin’s passion is communicating science to
students. He has taught English in Japan, Biology and Chemistry to
Year 13, and recently was Head Of Department for Computing and
teaching Print Design at Taumarunui High School.
Colin is sending booking forms to schools that
enable him to tailor his visits to their needs. It can be downloaded
by clicking here.
